INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

For all of us, adulthood is the time to re-parent ourselves, and let go of patterns we learned long ago that no longer serve us.  I use an integrated blend of cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness practices and other therapeutic approaches to help you identify your own needs and respond to them in a healthy way.

THERAPY IN THE
POSTPARTUM PERIOD

All women will experience a broad spectrum of emotions as they go through the transition to motherhood and the changes in identity, relationships, body and lifetsyle that come with it.  About 1 in 6 women will also experience depression, anxiety, or obsessive thoughts.  Together, I'll help you communicate with your supports, respond to your emotions, and find your own way forward.

THERAPY FOR BIRTH TRAUMA

Trauma has been defined as any event that overwhelms your existing resources for coping.  We can think of it as "too much, too fast, too soon".  Our emotions, thoughts and bodies are dramatically affected by trauma, and our behavior changes as a result.  However, our bodies and minds have the inborn capacity to heal and recover from trauma with the right support.  Using EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and other research-based therapies, we can create a safe space for the healing process to occur.

PARENT-CHILD THERAPY
(FOR CHILDREN UP TO AGE 8)

From the moment our children are born, they do their best to let us know what they need.  But when your child is experiencing separation anxiety, emotional dysregulation, low mood, anxiety, a major adjustment or trauma, it can feel impossible to determine what their needs might be, let alone meet them.  I'm here to reveal the emotional needs of your child and help you to meet them in ways that feel right for them and right for you.

SUPERVISION

Access to supervision is a crucial part of providing effective care to clients.  Within an encouraging and safe supervisory relationship, I can guide you toward evidence-based clinical practices that work for you and your clients.  Together we can reflect on your experiences with clients and explore your own feelings, thoughts and values as they arise in your work as a helping professional.
